“This underlines that there is no safety anywhere in Gaza,” UN Secretary-General spokesman Stéphane Dujarric denounced, reiterating the need for an “immediate” humanitarian ceasefire, with “all” hostages released immediately and unconditionally.”
The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterreshas “killed civilians”, in response to the attack carried out on Saturday by the Israeli army on a displaced persons camp in Al Mawasi, near Khan Younis, in which at least 90 dead and 300 wounded, half of them women and children.
The UN representative said he was “shocked and saddened by the loss of life”.
The bombing, which targeted senior Hamas soldier Mohamed Deif and the local commander of the Islamist movement in Khan Younis, Rafa’a Salamé, took place in a densely populated area “designated as a humanitarian zone for the reception of displaced people,” despite Israeli officials claiming it was a “precision attack.”
“This underlines that no place is safe in Gaza,” the Secretary-General’s spokesman, Stéphane Dujarric, denounced, as he reiterated the need for an “immediate” humanitarian ceasefire, with “all” hostages released immediately and unconditionally.
These statements echo those of the UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanianwho describes the attack as a “senseless massacre”. “The justification is always the same: ‘attack on Palestinian militiamen’ (…) When is the world going to stop this death machine?”, he called on his X account on social networks.
