Two days after Donald Trump was assassinated at a campaign event in the US state of Pennsylvania, the 78-year-old presidential candidate made his first public appearance. At the Republican nominating convention, a bandaged Trump stood next to his vice presidential candidate JD Vance and was cheered.
As Trump raised his fist in the air, the crowd chanted, “Fight, fight, fight!” Those were the real estate billionaire’s first words after the shooting on Saturday, as he was escorted from the stage by security guards, bleeding. Trump was accompanied by his family. The Republican has not yet spoken to his party friends. He will deliver his long-awaited speech, edited after the attack, at a later date.
The bandage obscured Trump’s right ear, which had been grazed by a bullet from the assassin’s gun. But the American media quoted a doctor who was treating him as saying: “The bullet tore off only a small part of the upper ear. The wound bled a lot, but everything will be fine.”
Financial support from Elon Musk
Meanwhile, it has emerged that tech billionaire Elon Musk is planning to provide massive financial support to Trump’s election campaign. Musk plans to provide about $45 million (around 41 million euros) per month to a pro-Trump super PAC, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday, citing people familiar with the matter. Accordingly, Musk has already made an unspecified donation to the “America PAC.”
Bloomberg also reported last week about a donation from Musk to the Trump support group. However, the South African resident does not appear on a donation list that the group filed on Monday, which shows an income of more than eight million dollars.
