Accident drama on a construction site in southeastern Styria: Wednesday afternoon a worker (43) was found dead. He must have been bitten by an insect beforehand. Immediate first aid measures could no longer save the Burgenlander.
The worker may have been stung by a bee or wasp and suffered a severe allergic reaction. The man had previously performed basement waterproofing work on a private construction site in a remote shell of a building. When the homeowner arrived at the site around 2 p.m., he found the 43-year-old lifeless on the ground and not breathing.
Resuscitation measures are hopeless
Together with another professional, the client immediately took resuscitation measures, which were then taken over by alerted emergency services and an emergency doctor from the C12 rescue helicopter. Despite an hour and a half of first aid measures, only the death of the 43-year-old could be determined.
EpiPen found next to employee
An empty auto-injector (EpiPen) was found next to the lifeless person. The 43-year-old had previously been in intensive care after a so-called anaphylactic shock. No indications of negligence by third parties could be established.
