No respite for the Styrian emergency services: On Wednesday evening and Thursday night, dozens of firefighters were again on duty during the storm in the Knittelfeld region.
There is no day without storms: Styrian emergency services have been in constant action for days, in some places even weeks. The particularly hard-hit areas in Upper and Western Styria were somewhat spared on Wednesday, but the erratic weather caused enormous damage in some places.
This time, the area in and around Knittelfeld in the Murtal was particularly affected. In Seckau, the road to Kobenz was flooded on Wednesday evening. In Spielberg, the roof of a horse stable was damaged by the storm. In the centre of the Ring community, the Florianis fought against the ingress of water into an apartment building.
In Knittelfeld itself, water entered a residential building after a lightning strike and the firefighters also had to cover the destroyed chimney and parts of the roof of a house with a tarpaulin. For 52 firefighters, the operations lasted until late at night.
