Fell from window – boy (4) back home after nine-meter fall

Date:

Two tragic window collapses have recently shocked Upper Austria. One of them now has good news from the hospital that almost borders on a medical miracle. Meanwhile, the investigation into both cases is ongoing.

On July 1, a four-year-old reportedly fell nine meters from a second-story window in Weyer and hit hard asphalt. A rescue helicopter took the boy to Kepler University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. From there, the “Krone” learned: “The patient has been discharged and is back home.”

On the other hand, the condition of an 18-month-old baby is still critical, as he climbed over the bench onto a windowsill and fell from the first floor in Niederthalheim on Monday without being noticed. According to the Kepler University Hospital, the toddler is in intensive care.

Criminal complaint, termination or diversion for mother
For the parents, the standard investigation after such tragic accidents is probably only a minor matter. Regarding the case in Weyer, the Steyr Public Prosecutor’s Office says: “The police have investigated the mother for negligent bodily harm.” The 26-year-old is said to have been on the toilet at the time of the accident.

In the coming weeks, the Public Prosecution Service will decide on the basis of the report how the process will continue. “Whether with a criminal complaint, diversion or termination,” according to a spokeswoman. In Niederthalheim, the investigations are of course only at the beginning.
