World War II mortar shell found during excavation work

A grenade was found in Tyrol on Monday! The mortar shell from World War II was discovered by a builder (42) during excavation work in the basement – he immediately called the police.

Spectacular find in Tyrol! During cellar excavation work with an excavator, a mortar shell from the Second World War was found in Wängle on Monday around 8:15 am. After the 42-year-old building owner reported the find to the Reutte police station, an explosives expert (SKO) from the police was immediately sent.

After the inspection by the SKO, the area was cordoned off and the Austrian Armed Forces’ mine clearance service was alerted. At around 16:20, the grenade was secured and taken over by the mine clearance service.
