Two women who escaped from Vienna-Josefstadt prison have been wanted since Thursday. The two prisoners dressed in casual clothes and walked into freedom disguised as “visitors”. Now, the police have released photos of the escapees.
The escaped women are said to have changed into casual clothes left outside in the ladies’ toilet by at least one accomplice – and then left the prison disguised as “visitors”. All search attempts by the Vienna police have so far failed.
Searching for women so far without success
The women – aged 31 and 43 – are a convicted criminal serving a prison sentence until 2027 and a suspected fraudster who is in custody. The search and arrest of the two women was immediately ordered by the justice department – but so far without success
In order to carry out the arrest, the Vienna police, on the orders of the Vienna Regional Criminal Court, have requested that the photos of the refugees be published. All relevant information, in particular information about the whereabouts of the two women, will be sent – even anonymously – to the Vienna State Criminal Police, central department, at the telephone number 01-31310-43800 asked to.
