Bestselling author TC Boyle is causing a stir with a statement, blaming Donald Trump and his party for the shooting of Trump at a campaign event.
“He blamed himself for the shooting in Pennsylvania,” the 73-year-old American writer told the German “wochentaz”. Trump’s Republicans are “the party of gun nuts”. “They don’t want any controls at all. They also want to abolish the laws that still restrict automatic weapons today.”
Biden must resign
In the interview, Boyle suggested that incumbent President Joe Biden would step down as the Democratic nominee before the November presidential election. “There are so many great, younger, energetic people who could beat Trump,” he said.
Boyle named Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and California Gov. Gavin Newsom, among others. Both politicians, along with Vice President Kamala Harris and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, are considered possible alternatives in the event that Biden withdraws from the presidential nomination.
“Fascist Future”
Ahead of a possible election victory for Trump in November, Boyle warned of a “fascist future for America.” According to Boyle, a second Trump term would also have global implications. “He would allow his role model Vladimir Putin to completely destroy the country and turn it into a slave state,” he said, referring to Trump’s outspoken admiration for the Russian president. “Nothing is scarier than what is happening now.”
