The Israeli military has declared two more hostages held by Hamas dead. It said the decision was based on intelligence information and approved by experts. The hostages were aged 76 and 35.
Both men are no longer alive, but their bodies are still being held by the terrorist organization Hamas. Alex Dancyg (76) is known to have been a historian and came from Poland. In Jerusalem, he worked at the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial; Dancyg helped organize trips for schoolchildren, for example. Even during his captivity, the passionate teacher gave history lessons and reported hostages who were released.
Most of them are probably dead
No details were initially released about the 35-year-old hostage. “Yagev and Alex were captured alive and should have been returned alive to their families and their country,” the hostage families forum wrote. Her death reflects the consequences of the delays in the Gaza ceasefire negotiations. “With every passing week, time is running out for the hostages.”
Neither Hamas nor the Israeli military say they know how many hostages are still alive. In theory, there are still 120 people in the Gaza Strip, but the majority are likely dead by now.
16 dead in shelling
Tank shelling and airstrikes were reported near the town of Khan Younis on Monday. At least 16 people were killed, including six children and four women, doctors said. Dozens more were wounded. “A family, including children, was torn apart while they were sleeping,” said a man in an ambulance carrying the bodies. Hamas said 26 people were killed.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army ordered the evacuation of some areas in Khan Younis. The population must leave their homes and move to a humanitarian zone.
