Only 21 years old, suspected head of a smuggling gang arrested

Date:

It is said that a big fish has caught the officers’ net. As has only just become known, a 21-year-old was arrested in Bregenz on June 17 after an investigation by the LKA Upper Austria on the orders of the Ried public prosecutor’s office. He is seriously accused of dragging at least 141 people by two drivers.

“Rido Kurdi”: The person behind this synonym has illegally dragged at least 141 people across the Austrian border since last summer. As has now become known, an arrest was already made in Bregenz on June 17: According to research by the LKA Upper Austria, a 21-year-old Turk is said to be the head of an extensive gang of smugglers, or rather a criminal organization.

The arrest in Upper Austria gave impetus
“The case was triggered last year when a fugitive was arrested in Upper Austria,” reports Alois Ebner from the Ried im Innkreis public prosecutor’s office, which played a key role in the arrest together with the LKA Upper Austria. “The investigation ultimately uncovered numerous other smuggling trips. If someone is involved in a criminal organization, they are usually not willing to provide information because they would have to accuse the people behind it,” says Alois Ebner.

Heavy loads from drivers
The young man was arrested in mid-June on the orders of the Ried public prosecutor’s office after two tractor drivers (43, 52) had seriously accused him. A third person has already been arrested. The Turk, who was staying illegally in Austria, said that he lived on irregular financial support from his family. However, he boasted about an expensive lifestyle on social media.

Not known
The 21-year-old denied the allegations. The investigation into the criminal organization is still ongoing.
