Legs ripped off – car bomb explodes in Moscow – officer injured

Date:

A high-ranking Russian officer was seriously wounded in a car bombing in Moscow on Wednesday. A car bomb exploded as the man was sitting in the car, authorities said, blowing off both of his legs.

His wife was also injured and the two were taken to hospital. The man could be an employee of military intelligence. Because according to Russian information there are two agents with the same name, there was initially confusion about their identity. The incident took place on Wednesday morning in the north of Moscow. Both the agent’s car and other vehicles were damaged.

To clarify the background of the attack, investigators were deployed to the parking lot in a residential area. In the afternoon, it was finally announced that there was a suspect who had fled to Turkey. “We are working with the Turks, let’s see,” said the head of the FSB domestic intelligence service, Alexander Bortnikov.

Arrest in Turkey
In the evening, Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya finally announced that the suspect had been arrested in the Bodrum resort area. There was a corresponding tip from the Russian Interpol unit. Yerlikaya also shared a video on the X platform in which plainclothes police surround a car and then arrest the man.

Here you can watch the video posted by the Turkish Minister of the Interior.

Ukraine denies involvement
Ukraine had nothing to do with the bombing, said Mykhailo Podoljak, an adviser in the presidential office of President Volodymyr Zelensky. Since the war in Ukraine, there have been repeated bombings on Russian territory, including in the capital. Russian investigators always blame the Ukrainian secret services for this.
