A 59-year-old German’s training flight ended painfully on Wednesday. Shortly before landing, he was hit by a gust of wind…
From the Emberger Alm, the 59-year-old German took off with his paraglider for his training flight to Greifenburg. Just before landing, everything took a dangerous turn. “During the landing approach, it moved sideways, probably due to strong easterly winds, so that the height for a safe landing approach could no longer be reached,” the police reported.
Then there was bad luck, because there would have been enough free space in that area. “The 59-year-old ended up in a wooden hut,” according to the police. The man tore a hole in the tiled roof and got stuck there; his umbrella was hanging down on the other side.
Rescue via ladder
“We were able to secure the pilot using the TMB-32 and a safety rope until the rescue ladder was set up in the building,” the FF Greifenburg, which was deployed with ten emergency services, describes the rescue.
“The pilot was then able to climb down the ladder himself and was treated by the rescue team. The paraglider was rescued from the roof in the meantime and handed over undamaged.” Fortunately, the man escaped with minor injuries and a big fright.
