Accident drama between Bad Leonfelden and Zwettl an der Rodl. For unknown reasons a driver and a truck collided. The woman was trapped and could only be freed from the wreckage. There were also three children in the car.
A large contingent of emergency services – five fire brigades, police, a medical emergency vehicle and a Christophorus 10 rescue helicopter – were deployed to the scene. A car and a truck collided at around 1:30 p.m. on the B126 in the town of Unterstiftung between Zwettl an der Rodl and Bad Leonfelden.
Locked in car
The fire department had to free the seriously injured from the badly deformed vehicle. There were also three children in the woman’s car, but according to initial information they were only slightly injured. The truck driver was unharmed, but suffered severe shock and required medical attention.
Stressful use
The Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) also arrived on the scene because many firefighters knew the victim personally and were therefore shocked.
The area is currently closed to traffic as police investigate the cause of the tragedy. She probably collided with oncoming traffic on a bend.
