Couple unharmed – landing gear bent: emergency landing in Tyrol

Date:

A local couple had a fright on Friday night in Innsbruck. When landing at the airport in a small plane, there were problems with the landing gear. There was a lot of smoke during the emergency landing. The airport fire brigade had to come to the scene.

The incident happened shortly after 7 p.m. The 73-year-old wanted to land the small single-engine plane at Innsbruck Airport. His 68-year-old wife was also on board. “The pilot extended the landing gear, but it collapsed during landing,” police said.

The fuselage and propeller blades scraped the runway
As a result, the propeller blades and fuselage of the plane hit the runway. The result was heavy smoke development. A blessing in disguise: the couple remained unharmed during the emergency landing.

The airport fire brigade recovered the small plane and brought it to the hangar. After the investigation by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Center, a report will be sent to the responsible authorities.
