“In general, of course, we know who will be released: there are already famous murderers walking around the city. “They are in contact with us and promise not to do any more harm,” said the chief investigator in St. Petersburg, Yuri Yashkov, in an interview with the news portal “Fontanka”. “Absolutely dangerous prisoners” who were pardoned for their service at the front would be monitored by the executive branch.
After numerous terrible tragedies that have shocked the country, the Duma wants to take appropriate measures to protect the population, but so far they have not been particularly successful.
Careless integration into society
“I try to keep an eye on certain sinister comrades, who I know are definitely a threat.” One of the things that makes him especially sick to his stomach is a returned fighter who now drives passengers around in a taxi: “Honestly, ‘me.’ I’m very worried about the customers.” He therefore warned all members of the police about him. Jashkov does not believe that the forgiven criminal is a different person today. “These types of people are prone to violence,” he explains with concern.

He personally knows two ex-soldiers who “can’t control each other.” Yashkov recalls the sensational murder in a restaurant in mid-March as the worst atrocity committed by a pardoned prisoner in the metropolis. A 40-year-old shot the person opposite him without batting an eyelid and then continued eating with gusto.
