“Activity prohibited” – drug suspicion: Lower Austrian priest taken into custody

In Lower Austria, a priest (29) is said to have violated the drug law. He has now been taken into custody. Another person who is said to be involved in the case has also been arrested. The Krems public prosecutor confirmed this on Monday.

According to the Public Prosecution Service, two people are currently in custody. However, no further details about the incident have been released.

Any pastoral activity is prohibited
The case became public last week. The priest in question was “immediately relieved of his duties in the diocese of St. Pölten” and “prohibited from carrying out any pastoral activity in the diocese,” according to a statement from the diocese of St. Pölten.

The man of God is a priest of the Archdiocese of Warsaw and has been working in the Diocese of St. Pölten since 2021.
