After a traffic accident at the construction site on the southern highway between Vösendorf and Wiener Neudorf, practically nothing happened on Wednesday before the long weekend around Vienna. Even after the accident site was cleared, the traffic jams really started to develop.
On the tangent from Stadlau to Vösendorf, practically nothing went either way, the ÖAMTC reported. There was a standstill on the S1 from Leopoldsdorf to Vösendorf. But nothing went further on the southern autobahn itself. Anyone who wanted to avoid via B17, B11 or B16 was just unlucky.
“In addition to the heavy traffic during the long weekend, there were many accidents around the larger cities,” said a spokesman for the ÖAMTC. Linz and the surrounding area and Graz, where a crash in the Gleinalm tunnel took place, were particularly affected.
Child injured in accident
Three cars were involved in the rear-end collision between Mödling and Wiener Neudorf. Two people, including a six-year-old child, suffered minor injuries. The requested “Christophorus 3”, for the landing of which the Vienna lane of the A2 had to be temporarily closed, was ultimately not used.
