According to the UN, ‘starving Palestinians’ is a war crime

The organization responded to statements made by Israeli Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who publicly said it was “justified and moral” to let Gaza’s two million residents die of hunger and thirst.

The UN has stated that Starving Palestinians is a war crimein response to the statements of Israeli Minister Bezalel Smotrich. Furthermore, the organization emphasizes that imposing collective punishment on the entire population of this area is also a war crime.

And the thing is that the Israeli finance minister has publicly announced that he was “justified and moral” let the two million inhabitants of Gaza die of hunger and thirst, to secure the release of the Israeli hostages still held by Hamas.

“We strongly condemn such words (…) Starving civilians as a method of waging war is a war crime, as is collective punishment of the Palestinian population,” said UN Human Rights Office spokesman Jeremy Laurence.

For its part, the Palestinian government has asked the International Criminal Court to make a ruling Arrest warrant for Bezalel Smotrich.
