Two workers were seriously injured in accidents in Vienna-Floridsdorf and Vienna-Leopoldstadt on Tuesday afternoon. Both men were hit on the body by heavy equipment and taken directly to hospital. A 48-year-old was even flown to the hospital by rescue helicopter.
The first operation took place at Louis-Häflinger-Gasse in Floridsdorf around 4.30 pm, the rescue service reported. A hose from a concrete pump came loose in a building envelope and hit the worker on the upper body. Rescue teams provided emergency medical care to the patient and stabilized the 48-year-old for transport.
To the hospital by helicopter
With the support of the fire service, the seriously injured man was carried to the construction site lift in a rescue tub and then brought to the ground from a height of approximately 20 metres. The rescue helicopter then took the man to hospital.
Another accident at work
Half an hour later the next accident happened, this time in the Taborstrae in Leopoldstadt. There, the worker was hit by a concrete hopper hanging from the crane. The 56-year-old suffered injuries to his spine, arms and legs. Rescue teams also immediately rushed the injured to hospital.
