30 degrees and more waiting for the long weekend. But not everyone likes the tropical air.
Many are looking forward to the beautiful weather days ahead during the long weekend. But the announced heat wave with temperatures above 30 degrees can lead to physical problems, especially in the concrete urban jungle. Especially in old and sick people.
The “Krone” has tips for keeping a cool head despite the hot weather:
- Only air in the morning
Sleepless nights because the apartment gets unbearably hot? You don’t have to, because if you open and ventilate all the windows early in the morning, you can significantly lower the indoor temperature. But watch out! Open windows have recently become a danger for several small children. Therefore, do not let the little ones out of your sight when airing the room. Close the windows during the day and darken them with roller blinds or curtains. Hanging damp towels next to a window or fan also keeps the heat out.
- Fresh mint in the drink
In hot weather, the body needs well over half a liter more than the recommended one and a half liters per day. Adults should therefore drink at least two liters per day. It doesn’t have to be ice cold drinks, though. Water, pressed juices or cooled tea are suitable as a thirst quencher. Plus, drinks with fresh mint would work wonders in the heat.
- Feet in the cold water
Taking a lukewarm shower before going to bed and letting the water dry on your skin will lower your body temperature and help you fall asleep more easily. Wet foot wraps give off cold. During the day it is advisable to run cold water over your wrists or take a foot bath. Experts advise against heating sports at high temperatures.
