During a meeting of just over half an hour in Madrid, the unions CCOO, UGT, ELA and LAB requested an industrial and future project for the company, as well as a job guarantee. Both sides have agreed to meet again in early September.
The CEO of Siemens Gamesa, Jochen Eickholttransferred this Wednesday to the labor unions CCOO, UGT, ELA and LABat a meeting in Madrid that the takeover bid about the company by Siemens Energy “in itself does not mean destruction of employment”, except in the corporate sectors, as it has so far defended, inviting them to “be synchronized” to solve the problems the company has, especially in the wind part.
As reported by CCOO sources, at the meeting, which lasted just over half an hour, the four unions asked for an industrial and future project for the company, as well as a job guarantee, given Siemens Energy’s decision to to launch a voluntary takeover bid (OPA) for the 32.9% that it does not control over this company, located in Zamudio (Bizkaia).
Although the director has indicated that there will be no job destruction in Spain in the medium term and that Spain is “coming well into the picture” in terms of labor costs, the unions continue. “Worried” because the company is “doing poorly” as ratified by the company’s results.
From CCOO, they appreciated that Jochen Eickholt has a pre-eminently “industrial, sincere and with very clear ideas” profile, reiterating that the takeover bid was for the company a “chance to survive” In that sense, this union is “more concerned” about the evolution of the company than about the takeover bid.
Both parties have agreed to meet again at the beginning of the month Septemberafter verifying the unions who are “as concerned” as they were before today’s meeting.
