Two hiking trips came to a terrible end on Friday: two holidaymakers from Germany had separate fatal accidents in the mountains of Carinthia.
A hiker had an accident in the Hochtristen area on the Emberger Alm. According to initial information, the man was traveling in a group. Rescue helicopters and the Alpine police recovered his body, but all help came too late for the man.
Shortly before that, a rescue operation had also taken place in the Gailtal after a fatal fall: in the Garnitzenklamm, a popular hiking trail, a hiker – also from Germany – fell to his death. According to initial information, the accident occurred at a place secured with a rope.
