A 35-year-old man jumped with his head into the shallow water on the western shore of the Reintalersee in Kramsach in Tyrol (Kufstein district) late Saturday afternoon. The Romanian probably hit his head on the ground. Witnesses and acquaintances pulled him out of the water.
The swimming accident occurred around 5:15 p.m. on Saturday. When jumping into the cool water, the 35-year-old – police initially incorrectly reported it as a woman – may have underestimated the depth. The man apparently lost consciousness because he was floating upside down on the surface of the water.
Flew to the clinic in Innsbruck
Witnesses and acquaintances observed the accident, pulled him out of the water and started the rescue chain. “After first aid from the rescue team and the emergency doctor, the injured Romanian was flown to the clinic in Innsbruck by emergency helicopter,” the police said.
