Dislocated shoulder – injured climber rescued from wall in Tyrol

Date:

A climber (31) found himself in an emergency situation on the Lamsenspitze in Tyrol on Saturday morning. The man injured his shoulder while climbing and had to be rescued from the wall by helicopter. His two companions remained unharmed.

On Saturday morning, the 31-year-old Austrian went on a mountain hike with two women (30 and 34 years old) from Pertisau am Achensee to Lamsenspitze in the municipality of Vomp.

Further climbing was impossible
“The sixth of twelve pitches was climbed by the 31-year-old in the lead,” the police said. At the ‘chimney’ the left handgrip suddenly broke and the man dislocated his left shoulder. “He could no longer climb and was lowered to the stands by his companions,” the director said.

Recovered by a medical emergency helicopter
There he managed to get his shoulder back in place, but further climbing was not possible. Therefore, an emergency call was made shortly before 10:30. “He was rescued by the medical emergency helicopter with the help of a rope and flown to the Lamsenjochhütte,” the researchers said.
