The Tyrolean police were now able to arrest a particularly audacious bicycle thief. After the officers had seized a total of twelve stolen bicycles from the 65-year-old Innsbruck apartment and reported the man as free, the “kleptomaniac” apparently went on another looting spree just two hours later.
On Saturday night, shortly before 4:00 a.m., a police patrol went to an apartment in the city of Innsbruck after a tip, because several stolen bicycles were believed to be lying there. “The officers were able to secure a total of twelve clearly stolen bicycles, some of which were still locked, in front of and in the apartment,” the director said. A 65-year-old Austrian was initially arrested around 11:20 a.m. and released on the order of the Innsbruck public prosecutor’s office.
‘Kleptomaniac’ is now in prison
But around 1:40 p.m., the police had to go out again to report a bicycle theft in Innsbruck. “When they arrived, the police patrol found the 65-year-old who was about to put a locked e-bike in an elevator in the apartment building,” the investigators said. Because it was clearly a stolen bike, the man was questioned again. “However, he denied all allegations,” the police emphasize. The 65-year-old was arrested and this time taken to prison. Further investigations are currently being conducted by the police.
