Trial in Upper Austria – Russian Islamist (20) promoted terror in Traun

Date:

A 26-year-old IS supporter murdered a peaceful city festival in Solingen (D). Here in Austria, a young Chechen openly celebrated the terrorist organization and the police was alerted by his colleagues from Germany.

The Islamic State was defeated on the battlefields of the Middle East, but the terrorist organization is still present, especially on the internet. This was demonstrated in the worst possible way in Solingen, Germany, where a Syrian supporter (26) randomly stabbed and killed three people after pledging allegiance online during the city festival. Motive: kill as many infidels as possible.

Selfie videos with the IS flag
But there are also ticking time bombs in our immediate environment. A 20-year-old from Traun, born in Grozny (Russia/Chechnya), openly promoted the Islamic State (IS) on the Internet for two years. The German Federal Criminal Police raised the alarm among colleagues in Upper Austria when a police officer came across one of the Traun Islamist’s social media channels during his daily Internet surveillance – there were several posts on which he distributed terrorist images and videos. One shows the ‘martyrdom’ of a dying Islamist. He also produced selfie videos with ISIS flags, terror symbols and fighting songs.

Up to ten years in prison
On Thursday, the 20-year-old, who was only 17 when he started IS propaganda, will have to answer for “terrorist association” at the regional court in Linz under the strictest security measures. Punishment: up to ten years in prison.
