North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Wednesday oversaw the test of an improved missile launcher system. On Saturday, Kim called for the development and production of more kamikaze drones as “an important part of war preparations.” Tensions on the Korean Peninsula have recently risen significantly.
As reported by the state news agency KCNA, it is a multiple rocket launcher with new guidance and projectiles with a caliber of 240 millimeters.
Both US and South Korean officials have repeatedly accused North Korea of supplying the Russian military with large-scale artillery shells.
Large deliveries to Russia
On Tuesday, a South Korean lawmaker said, citing an intelligence report, that North Korea has delivered a total of 13,000 shipping containers containing potential weapons shipments to Russia since 2022. They could have contained up to six million artillery shells.
“Prelude to nuclear war”
The US and South Korean armed forces are currently conducting a large-scale military exercise to deter North Korea. The North Korean Foreign Ministry has criticized the military exercises as “provocative war exercises” and a “prelude to nuclear war.” Washington and Seoul reject Pyongyang’s allegations.
