A short stay in an apartment in Innsbruck ended with numerous bites from small vermin for a woman and her mother. According to the tourist organization, the cause has already been reported. Reviews of the accommodation are devastating.
Like every year, it should be a cozy weekend with lots of music. For a woman from Upper Austria (name known to the editors) and her 83-year-old mother, their stay in the Tyrolean capital was a night of fear!
The woman booked an apartment near the train station via an online platform. She paid 412 euros and the photos looked attractive. When she arrived at the accommodation, she already had an angry feeling: “The hallway, the house and the stairs alone should have made us return. Dirty, dark, bulky waste in the hallway. It’s unbelievable!” Stains on the walls have not yet been questioned. The duo remained positive and went to the concert.
Bed bugs as far as the eye can see
The next morning, the rude awakening: the apartment was completely infested with bedbugs. “We didn’t discover it after the concert. “In the morning, there were hundreds of bedbugs of all shapes and sizes crawling around in the bed and on the walls,” says the affected person. At least now the dirty walls had meaning. These were probably bugs from the previous tenants.
They immediately ran away and booked a new hotel. The landlords were also approached, but they did not respond. The Tyrolean Crown also tried to reach the landlords, but there was no response.

The day after the horror night, the number of bites was enormous: “I have now counted about 50 bites on my right knee alone. That such a malicious act is allowed!” The victim has informed the booking platform where she booked the accommodation. After consulting a doctor, she is also considering taking legal action.
Reviews devastating, TVB must raise awareness
However, the affected women were probably not the first to suffer from bed bugs in the accommodation in question. Reviews on the platform also warn: “There are bed bugs everywhere in this apartment and the owner does not answer your call,” writes one former guest.
TVB Innsbruck Tourismus is familiar with the problem: “There are always complaints from guests, but not like this,” says Claudia Waldbrunner, Head of Partner & Guest Services. Although there are no legal steps, incidents can be reported to the state of Tyrol or to the tourism department. “They also carry out the checks. We can only sensitize the accommodations and point this out,” she concludes. The case of the “bug apartment” has already been reported.
