Very simple: “Politicians must tolerate more”

Date:

Insulting someone is never good. But very few people know that saying ‘idiot’, ‘idiot’ or copying it can be punishable. The ‘Krone’ asked lawyer Sascha Flatz in the ‘Quite Simple’ format what politicians in Austria still have to deal with and what the limits are.

Everyone has probably said a swear word or two during an argument. However, this does not mean that the requirements of Section 115 of the Austrian Criminal Code are immediately met. Attorney Sascha Flatz explains: “Anyone who insults, mocks, abuses or threatens to abuse someone in public or in the presence of several people must be punished.” This can result in a prison sentence of up to three months.
