Victim undergoes emergency surgery – Multiple stab wounds: Bloody knife attack on girlfriend

Horrible act in Linz! A 25-year-old allegedly brutally attacked his girlfriend (22) with a kitchen knife on Thursday evening and stabbed her multiple times. The victim managed to escape covered in blood and then collapsed in an apartment building. The police are investigating attempted murder.

Thursday evening around 18:00, crime scene Linz-Ebelsberg: A 25-year-old Serbian allegedly stabbed his girlfriend (22, also Serbian) several times on the street with a kitchen knife. Despite her serious injuries, the victim was able to get into her car and drive away, but had to get out shortly afterwards and flee to an apartment building. The 22-year-old collapsed there.

Local residents provided first aid to the injured person, who was covered in blood, and called 911.

Two emergency operations
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old is also said to have inflicted serious stab wounds on himself before being arrested by the Rapid Intervention Group.

Both the victim and the alleged perpetrator were immediately taken to hospitals and underwent emergency surgery. Both were still being watched by police officers in their hospital beds on Friday morning and could not yet be questioned about the events of the crime.

The National Criminal Investigation Department has taken over the investigation. They are on the run on suspicion of attempted murder.

Already 18 murders of women
According to the police, the reason for the bloody crime may have been ‘long-standing relationship problems’. According to the Autonomous Women’s Shelters in Austria, 18 women have been murdered by men this year across Austria, as well as 29 cases of attempted murder or serious violence.
