Terrible incident Thursday evening in an amusement park in the Tyrolean Oberland: After jumping from a ten-meter-high tower into the swimming lake, a 22-year-old Dutchman did not show up. The young man was pulled to shore by witnesses and the lifeguard. After resuscitation, he was flown to the clinic in Innsbruck.
The fatal accident occurred at around 6 p.m. at the amusement park in Ötztal-Bahnhof (Imst district). “The 22-year-old wanted to do a so-called front flip from the ten-meter-high diving platform at the swimming pond in the water park. “He hit the water’s edge with his head, went under water and never came up again,” said the police, describing the dramatic scenes.
Witnesses responded quickly
Several other guests and the lifeguard noticed the incident. “They immediately jumped into the seven-meter deep swimming lake and were able to rescue the Dutchman from the water,” the investigators continued.
By helicopter to the clinic
The young man was unconscious and was resuscitated until the emergency services arrived. He was eventually treated by the crew of the emergency helicopter and then flown to the clinic in Innsbruck.
