“People keep asking me: What’s wrong with you?” says Markus Poschner, chief conductor of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz. He is currently in Zurich, where the Brucknerhaus affair is spreading. What’s next? In the ‘Krone’ lecture, Poschner calls for a vision to be developed before he starts looking for an artistic director.
“Crown”: In your opinion, has the Brucknerhaus suffered damage to its image?
Markus Poschner: Of course, you are confronted with a pile of broken glass. It would be naive to believe that no one in the audience, not even internationally, would notice this. I am currently rehearsing at the Zurich Opera House and many have asked me: ‘What’s wrong with you?’ You see that the cultural venue has a high effectiveness. It is all the more important to find a solution quickly, a feasible concept, positive news.
