Fire alarm Saturday evening on a farm in Forstau (Salzburg): The fire started in the barn and spread to the farm despite extensive extinguishing measures. The fire brigade was deployed with 220 men. “Fire out” was announced on Saturday morning. However, the follow-up work is still ongoing.
On Friday around 23:00 the alarm went off in Forstau: a stable building was on fire. Shortly afterwards the fire brigade raised the alarm level to 4. The farm building and a property used for tourism were destroyed by flames. Due to the enormous heat development the wooden roof structure of the farm also caught fire. The roof had to be opened.
Water supply required emergency services
The water supply was difficult: the fire brigade had to lay several supply lines and cover a distance of two kilometers. The Floriani also asked for support from Styria.
No one was injured. All residents and animals were brought to safety. The investigation into the cause of the fire is in full swing. The extinguishing work is expected to last all of Saturday.
