Seriously injured – firefighters rescue man from smoke-filled apartment

Date:

The professional fire brigade of Klagenfurt had to rescue a 70-year-old with serious injuries from his heavily smoke-filled apartment on Tuesday afternoon. The man then had to be flown to the Graz Regional Hospital.

“We were warned because of an activated smoke detector in the Enzenbergstraße,” says the Klagenfurt fire brigade. Neighbors heard the beeping and noticed the smell of burning and therefore immediately alerted the emergency services. “The door of the apartment had to open. When the door opened a crack, deep black smoke came out. The smoke screen was placed immediately and an interior attack was carried out with heavy breathing equipment,” according to the fire service.

Within a very short time, the respiratory protection team found a conscious person lying on the floor in the combustion chamber. During the extinguishing measures, the 70-year-old tenant was taken to the stairwell and handed over to the A&E doctor and the rescue service. The seriously injured had to be flown in a rescue helicopter to the regional hospital in Graz. The fire was brought under control in a very short time, so that extinguishing work had to be carried out only afterwards. The Klagenfurt-St. Peter.
