The 25-year-old Serbian confessed after the knife attack on his 22-year-old partner in Linz. He summoned the young woman to an address for a supposed conversation and waited for her there with the knife. He allegedly stabbed her five times in the car.
The terrible bloodshed on Thursday night still shocks. A 22-year-old Serbian woman was attacked with a kitchen knife by her partner (25) in Linz and seriously injured.
Woman in intensive care
The man then allegedly injured himself with the murder weapon; he was arrested. While the young woman is still being treated in intensive care after emergency surgery, the alleged perpetrator has been questioned.
Serbian confessed to crime
“I wanted to kill her and then commit suicide,” he reportedly confessed to police. The motive for the murder was likely relationship problems and jealousy. The 25-year-old also described the crime from his perspective.
Car attack
“The man is not registered in Austria and was visiting family. He says he sent his partner to this address and waited for her there with the knife,” said prosecutor Florian Roitner. When the 22-year-old arrived by car, he got in the car with her and after a short conversation a fight broke out, the suspect stated in his interrogation.
Stabbed five times
He stabbed his partner repeatedly and allegedly attacked her a total of five times in the chest and head area with a 20-centimetre kitchen knife. “During questioning, he said that he had cramps during the attack, after which the woman was able to grab the knife and hit him once with it,” the prosecutor said.
The victim managed to escape
The Serb eventually managed to escape and, covered in blood, was able to flee to a nearby stairwell, where she received first aid from residents. The 25-year-old is said to have injured himself with the knife with suicidal intentions. He was arrested near the crime scene and taken to a hospital. A decision on the suspect’s pre-trial detention is expected to be made this weekend. Both the victim and the perpetrator were out of danger after emergency operations.
