Is everything in order at the Ländle schools? While the State Council for Education and the Minister of Education are reassuring, the country’s educators are angry about the blindness. Because the teacher shortage is still dire.
Although the Education Directorate currently has “only” 26 vacancies in Vorarlberg’s primary and secondary schools, there can be no talk of a relaxation of the staffing situation. “You have to know that with the current vacancies, only the absolute minimum for a well-functioning school would be guaranteed,” says Alexandra Loser, representative of the compulsory school, referring to the tense situation in the classrooms. It becomes even clearer in the addition: “Even if all 26 of these positions are filled, we are only talking about emergency operations.”
