Bloody violent crime Wednesday evening in the middle of Innsbruck: A Libyan (24) is said to have stabbed his 29-year-old girlfriend several times during an argument in an apartment. The seriously injured woman was able to flee from the house onto the street, where she then collapsed. The suspected attacker was identified and arrested as part of a manhunt.

A dispute between the couple should have gotten completely out of hand. At around 7 p.m., police were informed that a 29-year-old Austrian woman with stab wounds was being treated by the rescue team at a residential building in the Saggen district of Innsbruck. The initial investigation ultimately revealed that the 24-year-old Libyan partner may have inflicted the stab wounds on the woman.

According to the current state of the investigation, a dispute broke out in the victim’s apartment, with the 24-year-old suspect attacking his girlfriend with a knife and inflicting multiple stab wounds to her chest and abdomen.

The murder weapon, a kitchen knife, was found in the apartment. The suspect fled before police arrived. During an immediately launched manhunt, the suspect was located and arrested on Maria-Theresien-Strasse in Innsbruck. He is currently in police custody. “We are investigating suspected attempted murder,” said the LKA.
