Friend arrested – attack with knife: woman was covered in blood on the street

A dispute between the couple should have gotten completely out of hand. At around 7 p.m., police were informed that a 29-year-old Austrian woman with stab wounds was being treated by the rescue team at a residential building in the Saggen district of Innsbruck. The initial investigation ultimately revealed that the 24-year-old Libyan partner may have inflicted the stab wounds on the woman.

According to the current state of the investigation, a dispute broke out in the victim’s apartment, with the 24-year-old suspect attacking his girlfriend with a knife and inflicting multiple stab wounds to her chest and abdomen.

„The victim managed to escape from the apartment and onto the street, where the 29-year-old collapsed due to the injuries,” says the Tyrolean State Police. The woman received first aid from passers-by, who immediately set the rescue chain in motion. ” The injuries should not have been immediately life-threatening, depending on forensic expertise,” the investigators continued.

The murder weapon, a kitchen knife, was found in the apartment. The suspect fled before police arrived. During an immediately launched manhunt, the suspect was located and arrested on Maria-Theresien-Strasse in Innsbruck. He is currently in police custody. “We are investigating suspected attempted murder,” said the LKA.
