Concerning the self-governmenthas the lehendakari claimed”full compliance with the Statute to, among other things, exercise and access the rights and services belonging to us”, for which he considers “a system of guarantees” essential.

“In this scenario, it is necessary to deepen, update and extend self-government. First, to include those aspects that are consistent with the spirit and content of the statutes and with the principles of multi-level governance; second, , the Basque Country’s ability to design and implement new public policies; third, to avoid re-centralization of temptations through invasive legislation; and, fourth and last, to participate in decision-making fora and in European and international organizations to propose in a coordinated way solutions to be implemented locally through titles of competences typical of Basque institutions,” emphasized de Lehendakari.

The lehendakari has claimed that the calendar is fulfilled which the Spanish Government sent to the Basque Government on October 14, 2020 and “a permanent commission between the Basque Government and the Spanish Government that will allow us to guarantee compliance with the Statute of Gernika in its entirety”.
