The rescued hedgehog returns to the wilderness thanks to loving care – to the Auwald in the field of the Zwentendorf core center. His rescuers accompanied him.
A hedgehog, a power plant and two courageous rescuers: “Willi”, the spiky bundle of energy, found his new house in Zwentendorf – right next to the nuclear power plant that never went. Gerhard Sterkl, former police officer with a great heart for helpless beings, had discovered the dying animal on his property. Together with his wife Adele he had admitted the little man. “He was just skin and spines – no chance without help and death very close,” Sterl recalls.
A veterinarian in Wilhelmsburg had given “Willi” a chance to survive 20 percent – and still fought for his life. Weeks later the hedgehog was fit again. Because the former gender and his wife had fought against her small protection as Lion, it up and tapped it day and night with a bottle! Then he was finally ready for freedom.
His new area is now the Auwald right next to the ZwenteDorfer Power Plant site. “A natural paradise,” explains EVN spokesperson Stefan Zach. “Bees, deer, hedgehogs – there is room for everyone who needs calmly.” “Willi” was lucky in accident because of a lot of attention and care. “We were happy to accept it!” Said Zach. Both Adele and Gerhard will miss their little protégé: “Willi” is a being of the wilderness and he has to return there! “
