On Sunday evening, there were two arrests in central Vienna after several men clashed over a failed flirting attempt.
When the argument between the suspects escalated around 4:30 AM, the 31-year-old started threatening to kill his opponent (28) and hit him several times. Another suspect (35) intervened, also hit the 28-year-old and threatened him with a knife. Another person involved (36) was also injured.
Attempt to escape failed
Attentive witnesses immediately alerted the police. Both suspects were arrested shortly afterwards. However, the 35-year-old resisted arrest and tried to escape. The officers were able to prevent the escape attempt, but one of them was injured.
Pocket knife secured
During the subsequent house search, a black pocket knife was seized from the 35-year-old and a small amount of cannabis from the 31-year-old. A temporary weapons ban was issued against the 35-year-old.
