Horrible death drama Wednesday morning in the municipality of Oberperfuss in the Tyrolean district of Innsbruck-Land. A fire broke out in the home of an 80-year-old who needed care. When nurses went to check on him, thick smoke came out of the building. The man could only be saved dead.
According to the police, employees of the social and health district wanted to enter the house in Oberperfuss around 8:15 a.m. to see if it was the 80-year-old resident who needed care. “As soon as the front door was opened, thick smoke came out of the house, after which an emergency call was immediately made,” investigators say.
The alerted volunteer fire brigade of Oberperfuss was quickly on the scene and was able to extinguish the fire. However, all help came too late for the pensioner. “The 80-year-old could only be saved dead,” according to the police.
Autopsy ordered
According to the current state of the investigation, “it can be assumed that an accident occurred while the tiled stove was being lit.” An autopsy was ordered. There are currently no indications of third-party negligence.
