The terrible bloody act with three deaths in Muckendorf in the district of Tulln (Lower Austria) made many people’s blood run cold. Now it is clear: the woman who murdered her two children committed suicide. But the motive remains a mystery.
Even three weeks after three bodies were found in a single-family home in Muckendorf, the small town in the Tulln district is still in shock. Moreover, no one can understand the drama that unfolded behind the door of the beautiful cottage, which also led the partner of the deceased mother (29) to commit suicide.
The only thing that was confirmed so far was that the two five- and eight-year-old girls had suffocated. But now there is clarity for the 29-year-old. According to forensic examination, she grabbed a gun and shot herself. According to the police, no other people were involved in the horror.
Many open questions
The only outstanding—and possibly forever unanswered—question is why. This has not only made investigators uncomfortable ever since. Because, so far, there is no motive. There have been no reports of mental or physical illness, nor of family disputes (she was separated from the children’s father, but the two were on friendly terms).
