The driver was driving on the Neue Landstrasse in Mäder (Vorarlberg) on Thursday morning around 2:30 a.m. when he probably fell asleep briefly. His car ended up in the oncoming lane and collided with a semi-trailer.
The driver’s vehicle, which was driving from Altach towards Switzerland, ended up in an adjacent meadow due to the impact. The driver suffered injuries to the chest and head. The truck driver was injured in the left forearm.
Brought to LKH Hohenems
After initial treatment, the two men were transferred to the state hospital in Hohenems. There was extensive damage to the vehicles. They were towed away.
The Mäder fire brigade was busy for a long time with rescue and clean-up work – among other things, they had to bind leaked brake fluid. The L55 was closed to all traffic from 02:30 to 04:30.
