On Sunday night, eleven people were injured, some seriously, in two serious traffic accidents in the Braunau district. Ten people were injured, some seriously, in a collision between a minibus and a car. Just five kilometers away, a 23-year-old crashed into a tree and was trapped in her car.
In the Braunau district, just a few kilometres apart, two serious traffic accidents occurred last night. Shortly after midnight, the first accident occurred on Altheimer Straße near St. Peter am Hart: a minibus with ten passengers collided with a car almost without braking.
Five passengers, some seriously injured
How the accident could have happened is the subject of a police investigation. What is certain, however, is that five of the passengers sustained injuries, some of them seriously. Two seriously injured people were taken to Braunau Hospital and one person was also seriously injured to Rieder Hospital. Four passengers with minor injuries were also taken to Braunau; the other three signed a revers and did not travel. During the rescue and clean-up work, Altheimer Straße was closed for two hours.
Five kilometers further, second accident
Just over five kilometres away, in neighbouring Burgkirchen, another accident occurred at around two o’clock in the morning: a 23-year-old left the road on a slight left bend, sped through a forest and was only stopped by a huge oak tree.
Passers-by helped the 23-year-old
Shortly afterwards, two brave passers-by on their way home passed the scene of the accident, calmed the young driver, set the rescue chain in motion and tried to free her from the wreck. But because this did not work and other cars drove past instead of stopping, she eventually had to be freed by the fire brigade. After medical first aid, she was taken to the Altötting Hospital (Germany) with serious injuries – according to the police, she was not drunk.
