A serious accident involving a fully occupied minibus on the southern motorway near Traiskirchen (Lower Austria) on Sunday morning claimed the life of a woman (48), while eight other passengers had to be taken to hospital with injuries.
The driver (63), who was transporting eight Ukrainians, left the road towards Vienna for reasons that are still unclear. The minibus collided with a shock absorber just before a bridge, rolled over and ended up on its side in the ditch.
Drone searched for suspected missing person
A 48-year-old died at the scene of the accident from her injuries and the eight other passengers had to go to the hospital. How difficult the operation was for the emergency services on site was evident from the fact that initially a drone was used to search the area for a presumed missing person. However, this was discovered in the wreckage shortly after another passenger had been freed.
The clean-up continued into the early hours of the morning. Vehicle parts were strewn across the road and many objects had also been thrown from the minibus.
