The dead woman found Sunday in Kennelbach near Bregenz is believed to have been the victim of an act of violence. This was announced by the Vorarlberg police based on the available autopsy results. However, the identity of the victim is still unknown and there was no report of a missing person.
“Extensive forensic investigations and interviews with potential informants are currently underway. Further information on the facts of the case, in particular the cause of death, cannot be made public at this time for tactical reasons,” the director said.

The body was found by a couple on Sunday in the Bregenzer Ache riverbank forest, not far from an allotment garden. Police have asked anyone who saw anything related to the crime on Achstrasse in Kennelbach last week to contact the State Criminal Investigation Department.
According to researchers, the woman had probably been in the riparian forest for a long time, because her gender could not be determined before the autopsy. However, Mrs. K., who discovered the body together with her husband, is not so sure: “I often look for driftwood there – there was nothing. The body was there for a maximum of four days.” She and her partner often went into the forest there. The investigations are continuing.
