A 39-year-old died in a car accident in St. Egyden am Steinfeld (Neunkirchen district) on Thursday evening. Three people between the ages of 30 and 61 were seriously injured and taken to surrounding hospitals, the Lower Austrian State Police Directorate reported on Friday.
The 39-year-old driver collided with an oncoming car around 6:15 p.m. The driver, a 60-year-old, was injured in the crash, as were his two passengers, aged 30 and 61.
All four people involved in the accident were trapped in their respective vehicles and had to be freed by firefighters. Unfortunately, all help came too late for the 39-year-old and the three seriously injured were taken to hospital. Two emergency medical helicopters were in action.
