Horror in Kindberg, Upper Styria: A 14-year-old is said to have murdered his brother (36) – we reported. Now there are the first details about the investigation. The teenager admitted to the police that he had attacked his brother with an axe. The reason for the fatal attack was probably a long-simmering argument.
The tragic act took place on Monday afternoon in Kindberg. The rescue team informed the state police control center shortly after 1:30 p.m. that the emergency services had found a lifeless person in a residential building.
Due to the injuries, it was immediately assumed that there was a violent act. Several police patrols immediately went to the scene. At the same time, a manhunt was launched because the presumed 14-year-old had fled.
Arrested with decorative axe
But it didn’t take long for officers from Kapfenberg police station and a patrol of service dogs to arrest the boy near the crime scene. The suspected murder weapon – an axe, according to police, that was actually intended for decorative purposes – was found in his backpack and confiscated.
On Tuesday evening, the alleged perpetrator was questioned in the presence of a lawyer; according to the police, he made a full confession. Accordingly, the teenager stated that he had attacked his brother with an axe and eventually killed him because of a long-simmering quarrel.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Leoben has ordered an autopsy on the 36-year-old. The 14-year-old will be transferred to Leoben prison today. The suspect’s confession is now being checked. The investigation continues.
