After beginning his statement through tears, recounting the sexual abuse he says he suffered when he was nine years old and the assault he witnessed when he was 14, he acknowledged the charges he is accused of “in their entirety.”
“He didn’t deserve this”he stressed in reference to his wife, after insisting that the other fifty men sitting next to him on the bench were aware of his procedures and “couldn’t say otherwise.”
A total of 51 men are being tried in the trial of Dominique Pelicot. Some of the defendants claim that they did not know that Gisèle Pelicot was unconscious, under the influence of anxiolytics, when they had sexual relations with her, and that they thought that it was all part of the sexual fantasies that the couple shared, and that there was therefore consent from both.
In response to this first statement by Dominique Pelicot, the victim She has stated that in the 50 years she lived with her husband, she could not imagine him raping her, that she did not doubt him “even for a second” and that she trusted him.
