The former owner of London’s luxury department store Harrods, Mohamed al-Fayed, is not staying out of the headlines. The legal team representing 37 alleged victims of sexual assault by the late Egyptian entrepreneur says it has received more than 150 new reports.
The team said Saturday that these were “survivors and people who had evidence” against Al-Fayed. The new reports have come in since a documentary about the case aired on the BBC on Thursday night.
As reported, five former Harrods employees in the documentary titled “Al Fayed: Predator at Harrods” say they were raped by the manager, while five others allege attempted rape, and 13 others say they were sexually harassed by their boss. The company has now put a form on its website for those affected to fill out.
Some of the claimants were minors at the time of the crime
According to the lawyers, the attacks were not limited to Harrods. They also took place at the luxury Ritz Hotel in Paris and at the businessman’s residence in Paris, as well as during his travels. Some of the plaintiffs were therefore still minors at the time of the crime.
The businessman, who died last year at the age of 94, was the father of Dodi al-Fayed, who died in a car crash in Paris in 1997 along with Princess Diana.
